Article Marketing Principles That Will Save You Hours of Wasted Time
Here are some article marketing principles that you should follow when setting up your campaigns. Having a set of principles that you conform to ensures that you are much more efficient and effective.
Over time, these principles will become second nature to you and an integral part of your routine. Until then, however, I suggest you review them each time you're working on your campaigns.
These are guidelines that were developed after much trial and error, and they have served me well. There is a reason I use them... they work.
Do you know these article marketing principles?
Understanding the basic underlying principles to follow will help you to create your campaigns more effectively. Don't deviate from these principles until you've had some success. After that, you can do this however you like, but for now, stick to the rules.
- Article marketing is for SEO first, and everything else second
The main purpose here is SEO, without sacrificing the other benefits as well. Well, let me back up and say that the main purpose of article marketing is to increase website traffic. But, the traffic you want is going to come from the search engines. Yes, you want direct traffic if you can get it. Yes, you want your articles to be picked up by other sites and ezines. Just in case that never happens, however, you need to create your campaigns so that it really doesn't matter if they never get picked up.
- Articles should be written with keyword density in mind
You write your articles using proper keyword density, just as you would create a page for your site. Don't skimp on this. You want your articles to rank high in the engines. I have some valuable first place listings using Ezinearticles.com.
- Articles should focus on keywords on which you already have pages written for your site
If you don't have a page written on green widgets yet, then don't write and submit an article using that keyword. Write your page first, and then write your article, which links to that page. If you don't do it this way, you'll be missing valuable linking opportunities and SEO benefits.
- Articles should complement your site's content, not duplicate it
Don't simply republish your web page elsewhere. In fact, that is a big duplicate content no no. Instead, you can rewrite your existing page. Some ideas are to create a shorter version of the page, or discuss a different viewpoint, or answer a specific question. Your article can be editorial, or it can be newsy or controversial. Whatever it is, it does not duplicate your site's content.
Following these guidelines will save you hours of wasted time and dramatically improve your effectiveness. I've written a series of blog posts that describe how I combine these article marketing principles and social media to gain first page Google rankings, sometimes literally within days.
